Our Story

As you read through the timeline below, you will see how intertwined our history is with that of the Wizarding World. We didn’t immediately start out as fans. Before beginning to read the Harry Potter series as a family, Q had read the books on his own but Kira hadn’t. Afton probably was the first fan.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter created by JK Rowling has come to symbolize family togetherness due to reading the books as a family and enjoying so many other great family times surrounding the storybook universe.

We now strive to share that same love and togetherness, and love of reading that the Harry Potter series has brought to us.

1. 1997

   • May - Q graduates high school.
   • July - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone book released.
   • August - Q starts junior college.
2. 1998

   • July - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets book released.
   • September - Q leaves on mission to Thailand for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
3. 1999

   • July - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban book released.
4. 2000

   • July - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire book released.
5. 2001

   • May - Kira graduates high school.
   • August - Kira starts junior college.
   • October - Q and Kira meet.
   • November - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone movie released.
6. 2002

   • June - Q and Kira get married.
   • November - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets movie released.
7. 2003

   • July - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix book released.
8. 2004

   • February - First daughter, Afton, is born.
   • July - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban movie released.
9. 2005

   • July - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince book released.
   • November - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie released.
10. 2006

    • February - Second daughter, Sariah, is born.
    • December - Q graduates from university.
11. 2007

    • March - Family moves to first home.
    • July - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie released.
    • July - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book released.
12. 2009

    • February - Begin reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as a family.
    • March - We all take an online sorting hat quiz:
    • Q is sorted into Ravenclaw
    • Kira is sorted into Hufflepuff
    • Afton is sorted into Gryffindor
    • Sariah is sorted into Slytherin
    • July - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie released.
13. 2010

    • February - Begin reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as a family.
    • February - Decorate family room as "Movie Room".
    • November - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 movie released.
    • November - Begin reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban as a family.
14. 2011

    • April - Begin reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as a family.
    • October - First year of Wizarding World costumes for Halloween:
      • Afton dresses up as Hermione
      • Sariah dresses up as Ginny
      • Kira dresses as Professor McGonagall
      • Q dresses as Professor Snape
    • November - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 movie released.
15. 2012

    • February - Afton has Harry Potter themed birthday.
    • October - Afton dressed up as Hermione again (year 2).
16. 2013

    • April - Begin reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as a family.
    • November - Begin reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as a family.
17. 2014

    • April - Begin reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as a family.
18. 2015

    • October - Afton dressed up as Hermione again (year 3).
    • December - First year having a 100% Harry Potter themed tree.
19. 2016

    • March - Move to New House
    • April - Afton wanted Hermione hair for picture day.
    • July - Wizarding World Takes Over the Basement

    • October - Older daughter dressed up as Hermione again (year 4). Q was Newt Scamander and Kira was Professor Trelawney
    • December - Second year having a 100% Harry Potter themed tree.
20. 2017

    • December - Sariah finally accepts being a Slytherin after a visit to the Christmas Wizarding World store.
21. 2019

    • October - First Trip to Wizarding World in Florida for family vacation.
22. 2020

    • April - Q begins creation of our Weasley Clock as a COVID project.
    • November - Q presents about the Weasley Clock at a worldwide online progrmming conference.
23. 2021

    • January-March - Kira paints the Kitchen cabinets and Q and Kira begin to bring more subtle hint of the Hogwarts House colors into the accents of the Kitchen and Living Room.
    • June-August - Family attends local cinema's reshowing of every Harry Potter movie, one per week.
    • October - Wizarding World costumes for Halloween:
      • Kira dresses as Professor Dolores Umbridge
      • Q dresses as Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge
24. 2022

    • March - Work takes Q and Kira to Florida. Of course we go to Wizarding World.
    • April - Work takes Q and Kira to Florida. Of course we go to Wizarding World, again.
    • May - Afton graduates high school.
    • June - Work takes Q and Kira to Florida. Of course we go to Wizarding World, again.
    • August - Work takes Q and Kira to Florida. Of course we go to Wizarding World, again.
    • August - Starting of Allder Hallows on Instagram.
    • October - Second Trip to Wizarding World in Florida for family vacation.
    • December - Q and Kira take their own vacation to Wizarding World.
25. 2023

    • April - Afton leaves on mission to Ohio and Washington, D.C. for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
    • July - Start of Allder Hallows website and presence on many other social media sites.
    • August - Work takes Q, Kira, and Sariah to Florida and, of course, we go to Wizarding World.
